Sewage pumping station installation guide

Good installation planning starts before excavation. This overview helps you discuss the job with an installer; use the instructions supplied for the exact chamber, pump and controls for the installation itself.

Confirm the site and drainage design

Identify the incoming drainage level, the proposed station position and the receiving drain. Confirm the chamber dimensions, the discharge route and access for future servicing. Your installer should check relevant permissions and connection requirements with the appropriate parties. A product page is not a site survey or approval to connect to a sewer.

Ground conditions and chamber support

Excavation, groundwater and surrounding loads affect the installation. Follow the chamber manufacturer’s requirements for the base, backfill and support. Do not substitute a generic depth or concrete detail from a different station. Consider how the lid and frame will be supported and whether the area is exposed to vehicles.

Pipework and connections

Match the inlet seal, pipe outside diameter and required cut-out before drilling. A pipe’s nominal size is not automatically the correct holesaw diameter. Check the discharge fittings, valve arrangement and pipe route against the selected pump duty. Our accessories range includes seals, compression fittings and holesaws; contact us if you need help matching them.

Electrical supply, controls and ventilation

Use a suitably qualified electrician for the supply, protection and controls. Floats and cables need the correct arrangement to work freely and avoid damage. Ventilation must follow the installation design and product instructions. Never enter a sewage chamber or attempt live electrical work.

Commissioning and handover

  • Check the installation against the supplied instructions.
  • Confirm automatic start and stop operation and inspect accessible connections for leaks.
  • Check alarms and any twin-pump control sequence.
  • Record the selected pump, settings, installation date and installer details.
  • Give the owner instructions for normal use, fault response and maintenance.
